Why Attend this Workshop?

The Management Commission Workshop will take place during the XXXII International Society of Sugar Cane Technologists Congress that will be held in Cali – Colombia from August 22 to 31, 2025.

Participants are invited to prepare abstracts related to the theme and topics of the Workshop. See here for the Intent to Submit Abstract document.

The Workshop will provide an opportunity for a discussion on topics that involve the future of the labor market and how to anticipate the skills of work, as well as a panel discussion of actions for resilient sugarcane under the challenges of extreme weather and climate change. Understanding the future of sugar consumption, and how to promote balanced lifestyles to educate the public and policy decision-makers.

About Colombian Sugarcane Industry

The joint ISSCT Management Workshop will be held at Cali, Colombia. It will be hosted by Cenicaña and Tecnicaña. In addition to being the epicenter of the most productive sugarcane agribusiness in the world and with nearly 240,000 hectares under cultivation, the Cauca River Valley is also a very popular tourist destination (https://colombia.travel/en/cali). Cali, the capital of the Valle del Cauca department, is famous for the salsa, the Cali fair and the joy and hospitality of its people. In addition, it houses a variety of shopping malls, hotels, restaurants and much more.

CENICAÑA (www.cenicana.org) is the research centre of Colombian sugarcane agribusiness and is responsible for producing new disease resistant varieties with higher yields, in addition to conducting research and development in agronomy, factory processes and the extension of best management practices.

The Colombian Association of Sugar Cane Technicians TECNICAÑA (www.tecnicana.org) is a technical and non-profit Institution. Created in October 1977 with the main objective of promoting technology, participation and development of professionals and technicians, on issues related to the cultivation of sugar cane and its derived industries.
